Year 4 – Dinosaur Day

This was a special day because we got to dress up as dinosaurs.  I was a pterodactyl.  I had a homemade costume and before we went to the nativity play we had a picture taken.  I won the competition.  It was the best day every.  I’ll think about this day forever.

Year 4 Trumpet Concert

Today has been the best day ever!  My class and the other class have only been learning for 8 weeks.  We have learned 3 notes, C, D and E.  My heart leaped when I saw my dad and other pupils.  I wanted to laugh when Reception started laughing.  I felt proud that I was chosen to speak a line.  It was challenging to play D and E because on D you have to blow harder and smile.  It was hard for us to work together with 4K because we had never worked with them so I didn’t know how good they were.  The hard piece was the Boogie Woogie song.  We had to change the  valves from C to D.  I put my heart and soul into it.

Today has been the most nerve wracking performance of my life!  How was I supposed to perform in front of all those people?!  When I was practising I found it easy, but when I performed in front of half the school it was so hard!  Especially when my dad was there.  I couldn’t stop looking at the trumpet because my eye kept catching the sight of the gold gleaming from the shining trumpet.  My heart snapped when I and a couple of other people had to play a really hard piece of music that was so hard my trumpet made a funny noise!  We sang and played a few songs such as Dinosaur Brigade, Mrs Knight and Eat a Lotta Pizza.  It was amazing!  There was another song called Boogie Woogie Brass.  It was quite easy, but funny at the same time.  Mrs Knight was quite short but it was worth playing!  This concert was the best.  Also very scary!

This was the most glorious day of my life because we were playing the trumpet. The song I like best is the Dinosaur Brigade song.  The Reception children were laughing.  It was funny when my valve screw got lost.  It was easy to play after that.
