Once again a huge thank you to the GoodGym crew for a fantastic visit on Easter Monday. It was such an exciting project.
The GoodGym runners ran to school and dug a trench inside the wall bordering Westleigh Avenue to enable us to plant trees as part of a new hedgerow. The children have now finished planting the entire stretch of hedging.
Once again, thank you, we couldn't have done it without you all.
The charity GoodGym came to Granard in early March for their evening running event/mission. Thirty runners arrived with head torches, during a hail storm, to help all of us at Granard continue to renovate our playgrounds.
In the KS2 nature area the fantastically energetic participants managed to remove the old ripped pond liner, rescuing 5 frogs and a huge mass of frog spawn! Granard can look forward to a fresh new pond in the upcoming months, as well as bumper crop of tadpoles.
In the KS1 playground they went to work moving all the chipped bark closer to the shady area near the KS2 hall. They also started laying the membrane which goes below the bark. We are getting close to finishing!
The school has established a great relationship with the GoodGym and will get them back again soon. Their positive attitude and approach to working together to achieve is a great example of the values which Granard promotes for its children, and it is great to see those values evidenced in the community too.
Thank you GoodGym for all your help. We will see you again soon!
