What is a Children’s Centre
Children’s Centres are part of the Government’s “Every Child Matters” agenda to support parents and families to give their children the best possible start.
What Happens at Granard Children’s Centre
Granard Children’s Centre is based inside Granard Primary School in the heart of the West Putney Community. We offer fun activities for you and your child including play sessions, singing, toddler gym and Baby Massage.
At our Centre your child can learn to mix with others and learn and develop through good quality play. You can make new friends and feel part of the community. Get close to your child through play and take part to some interesting courses to develop your parenting skills or study Maths and ESOL.
Families who are feeling stressed can get practical and emotional help with any issues they have.
We are the only Children Centre with a swimming pool and offer swimming sessions for parents with babies and toddlers in a nice, warm and clean pool with excellent teachers.
We also run a Forest School for you and your child to explore nature on Putney Heath.
We are committed to supporting parents who want to get back into the world of work and we offer volunteering opportunities in the Centre. All our volunteers have gone on successfully to employment.
We have strong links with the primary school and through this we are able to help you and your child become confident about their start at school.
We like to celebrate the rich diversity of all the cultures in the local community and celebrate many festivals including EID, Black History month, Chinese New Year and hold a Caribbean Fun Day.
Come along to our Centre to find out more we’ll give you a nice warm welcome.
“We were greeted straight away by a member of staff and then once inside by many others. I was told clearly what to do and enjoyed all the activities set out”
“The Centre offered me invaluable support when I was ill after the birth of my second daughter. Without the excellent care of the staff in the Centre my oldest daughter could have had a much different experience. She still remembers the time at the Centre with fond memories of happiness. Had it not been for the attitude of the women looking after us we could all have had a very different outcome. A truly wonderful place that gives you so much more”
“I think the Children’s Centre is great for children and parents as it helps to build their relationship”.
“It is a very welcoming space. There are many activities and cultural events. The Forest school is a very important part of my child’s introduction to nature and I am delighted that the Centre offered it to the community children”.
“The breakfast opportunity offers the children the ability to learn to eat, sit and develop their skills of being with other children as well as eating healthy snacks”.
