On Tuesday, 8th November we had our Art Day. The children had so much fun. They used water colours, made fish scales by using tissue circles folded then cut into eighths, PVA glue and adding details in pen. They had to really concentrate.
We began the day by thinking about different media artists use, then introducing installation art, looking at how it differs from other forms and how the artists’ intentions may differ. We thought about how one thing can represent or have a message, like when they get a star, what would that represent.
We learnt about: Damien Hirst studying Mother and Child, and Pharmacy, thinking about his fixation with life and death! and Ai Weiwei and how he used his installations to get his message across, even if it meant imprisonment.
One of our Governors, Shirley Hobson, spent some time in class with us and said “I really did enjoy seeing the fantastic, innovative work being created” and she looks forward to seeing the displays next time she is in school.
