Welcome to Beech Class!

Beech Class is a foundation class for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1.  It is a nurturing environment where every child’s individuality is celebrated.

Therapeutic approaches and a deep understanding of the children’s needs are embedded into the delivery of our rich curriculum. We focus on building up our attention skills and engagement through sensory based learning; sensory stories are a key part of developing our comprehension skills, drawing on total communication – visuals, objects, Makaton and colourful semantics - to explore literature and language.

We gradually increase engagement using Attention Autism approaches linked to our topics. As the children’s engagement grows, there are opportunities to take turns, manage disappointment and increase resilience.

When the children are not exploring the environment, getting busy, or engaging in intensive interaction with the adults, they may be found working one to one with an adult.

Beech Class is a calm and welcoming learning environment with a balance of structure and play that suits the needs of our cohort.
