Granard Primary School

"Growing together; Achieving together"

How we support children with their emotional wellbeing.

The ethos of our school is very inclusive and the atmosphere is warm and nurturing.  We employ experienced SEN support staff to work with groups of children (e.g. LSU) and with individual children (LSAs).  We also employ a Family Liaison Officer who supports the behaviour and emotional wellbeing of children and their families.  The designated school social worker supports our vulnerable families, both in school and at home.  We are also well supported by our UP (Unlocking Potential) team of therapists, who deliver individual and group sessions on a weekly basis, and 2 educational psychologists.

We liaise closely with the Primary Pupil Referral Unit who offer support through Nurture groups, mentoring, family support and educational support.

Mindfulness sessions and Circle Time take place in class on a weekly basis, as well as sensory breaks, brain breaks and whole class movement breaks.

Timetables are adapted to suit the needs of our children.  If appropriate, children have individual timetables for a set period of time until they are able to cope with a full timetable in class again.
