The Cedar Base curriculum is a highly adapted blend of the EYFS Framework and National Curriculum and aims to enable pupils to aspire to reach their full potential whilst developing a love of learning. Whilst we follow the same curriculum topics as the mainstream classes, these are highly adapted to meet the academic, social and learning needs of individuals.
The Attention Autism model underpins our teaching approach to support the development of pupils' attention, listening, co-operation and communication skills. The play-based learning style we have adopted correlates with areas of the EHCP, embedding both Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy providing an integrated approach and ensuring that pupils have access to direct teaching and generalisation of skills.
Our curriculum is organised into strands, incorporating all subject areas, which ensures consistency across all classes and Key Stages.

Learning is planned to include personal preferences and offer a broad range of experiences with opportunities for pupils to work towards achieving their targets. This allows pupils to learn at their own pace. Incorporated are opportunities to develop life skills to prepare them for life beyond The Cedar Base.
